The small casks that were commonly used for Scotch Whisky in the 19th century and frequently moved across the Glens by packhorse served as the model for Laphroaig Quarter Cask. Some of the Laphroaig that is still maturing is moved from our bigger type barrels into the Quarter Casks, followed by additional maturation periods, in order to replicate some of the flavours that the Quarter Casks generate.When initially sipped, the extra oak influence imparts a gentle sweetness and velvety texture. However, soon after, the strong peatiness that is distinctive to Laphroaig emerges. This whisky should be served over ice, on its own or with a splash of cold water. For the finest possible whisky tasting experience, the bottle comes with two matching glasses!
